Haba Snow Mountain
Haba Snow Mountain (哈巴雪山 ha ba xue shan) is the highest summitable mountain in Yunnan province, rising 5,396m above sea level. The Naxi people named this mountain that rises opposite the more well-known Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and flanks Tiger Leaping Gorge, “golden flower”, for its delicate beauty.
A climb up Haba takes you through sparse pine forests, bubbling streams with colourful rocks and rhododendron forests that bloom in May. It is a good climb for amateur mountaineers looking to take it up a notch and the summit push involves walking up a large granite slab and up a glacier to reach the top. Non-summit trails are also available on request.
